kill

Terminate processes

Usage

      kill PID

Terminates the process with process id PID

Common Flags

-SIGNAL, -s SIGNAL Send SIGNAL to process-l List signal names

Examples

Gracefully terminate process

      kill 1234

Sends the SIGTERM signal to process 1234

Forcefully terminate process

      kill -9 1234

Sends the SIGKILL signal to process 1234

List signal names

      kill -l

Lists available signal names and their corresponding number
